Zillah, Washington – Single-Vehicle Crash Reported On I-82

ZILLA, WA – Washington State Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 82 near Zillah that left a young woman hospitalized Monday morning.

Troopers were dispatched to eastbound I-82 approximately two miles west of Zillah around 9:58 a.m. on January 8 after receiving reports of a serious collision. Authorities say the vehicle was traveling east when it crossed the center median, passed through westbound traffic lanes, and came to rest roughly 40 feet off the roadway.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Granger, was transported to a Yakima hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. According to investigators, the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, and impairment from drugs or alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Washington State Patrol continues to investigate what caused the vehicle to leave its lane and cross into oncoming traffic. No additional vehicles were reported to be involved.
