YAKIMA, Wash. – A woman was flown to an intensive care hospital in Seattle after a vehicle-pedestrian crash in Yakima left her with life-threatening head injuries, Yakima police said.

According to the Yakima Police Department, at about 5:45 p.m. on November 12, officers and firefighters responded to the intersection of east Lincoln Avenue and north Naches Avenue for a reported crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Police said they arrived to find a 35-year-old woman with a severe head injury lying in the road. First aid was provided on the scene, and she was taken first to MultiCare Memorial Hospital, then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening head injuries and multiple broken bones.

According to YPD, their investigation found a Lexus GS had been driving west on east Lincoln Avenue when the woman entered the roadway and was struck. Police said the driver of the Lexus, a 23-year-old man, stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the investigation. Police said that neither speed nor intoxicants appear to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway. Anyone with information about the crash, including video, is asked to contact YPD Officer Darius Williams at 509-306-3814 or via email.
