YAKIMA, Wash. – A man is dead and another man is in jail after a vehicle/pedestrian accident on Saturday. Yakima Police say Officers were called to the 100 block of South Second Street early Saturday morning.
THE VICTIM WAS FOUND SATURDAY MORNING
When they arrived at about 1:40 am Saturday they found a 28-year-old man in a parking lot who had been struck by a vehicle. A press release from the Yakima Police Department says Officers and medical personnel provided lifesaving efforts, but the victim died at the scene.
AN ARGUMENT AT A LOCAL BAR
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 29-year-old male. He was arrested and booked at the Yakima County Jail on the charge of Vehicular Homicide after his vehicle was found in the Moxee area. Court documents say the two were at a local bar and had been in a argument before the crash. ANOTHER CRASH ON MONDAY MORNING
Monday another pedestrian was struck this time while walking in a marked crosswalk. Yakima Police say the crash was reported at about 6:44 am Monday at the intersection of South Fair Ave and East Maple Street. A press release from the Yakima Police Department says the driver of a truck was southbound on Fair Ave and failed to see a 12-year-old pedestrian crossing westbound in the marked crosswalk.
THE 12-YEAR-OLD WAS TAKEN TO A YAKIMA HOSPITAL
The 12-year-old was taken to Multi Yakima Memorial Hospital for treatment and evaluation of a possible head injury. Police aren’t saying if the driver was cited.
