YAKIMA COUNTY, WA (June 18, 2023) — A woman from Chico, CA died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning. The wreck occurred on State Route 97, about 10 miles outside of Toppenish just before noon.
According to the report, 38-year-old Sarah Bassett was south on S.R. 97 when her vehicle left the road and crossed the centerline, and hit a vehicle driving northbound head-on.
Bassett died at the scene. The two people in the northbound vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital for their injuries. Their current conditions are still unknown at this time.
