12 passenger van collision

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. (June 21, 2019) A two-car crash near Tieton on Thursday killed one and injured several others.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s office, the crash was reported around 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities reported that a Dodge Ram traveling east struck a 12-passenger Ford van at an intersection when the Dodge failed to stop at the posted stop sign.

The collision caused the van, which police say had the right of way, to roll onto its side.

All of the van’s passengers were taken to area hospitals, where one died. The identity of the victim has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say this is the 11th traffic fatality in the county so far this year.
