collision on highway 12 leaves one dead, another injured

YAKIMA COUNTY, WA (Jan 20, 2023) — A 14-year-old boy was killed and a 15-year-old passenger was seriously injured after a rollover crash that occurred 13 miles west of Naches just after noon on January 20.

The Washington State Patrol reported that a Chevy Venture was driving east on Highway 12 when it went off the road and hit a rock wall before rolling over. The vehicle came to a stop in one of the westbound lanes of Highway 12.

The Washington State Patrol declared the 14-year-old dead at the scene. His passenger was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
