Fatal Two-Car Crash on SR 153

Okanogan County, WA (10/27/2019) –
One person is dead after a two-car collision on Sunday, October 27. The crash happened in the southbound lanes of State Route 153 two miles south of Carlton.

Washinton State Patrol reported that Clayton M. Thornton crossed the center line while driving northbound around a corner. He collided head-on with a vehicle carrying two people.

WSP reported that everyone involved wore their seatbelts. The two people in the other vehicle were not seriously injured; they received treatment at the scene and released. Mr. Thornton died at the scene of the crash.

Initial reports indicate that impairment did not factor into the crash. It is still under investigation.
