Yakima, WA – In a tragic pedestrian accident this morning at around 7 AM, the Yakima Police Department responded to a car vs. pedestrian collision near the intersection of 72nd Ave & Tieton Drive.
A 2017 Dodge Durango, driven by a 52-year-old female from Yakima, was making a left turn onto westbound Tieton Dr from 72nd Ave. It struck a 74-year-old male in the crosswalk on the west side of 72nd Ave.
The pedestrian was critically injured and was rushed to MultiCare Memorial Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
The Yakima Police Department Traffic Unit is actively investigating this fatal crash. However, no alcohol or drugs were found at the scene.
