SPOKANE, WA (3/3/2020) — Highway 2 was closed after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a passing car.
The accident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Highway 2 and Flint Road near Airway Heights.
According to Washington State Patrol, authorities received a call about a pedestrian walking in the middle of the highway early on Tuesday morning. Police responded to the call, but could not find the pedestrian.
Around 4:00 a.m., authorities received another call that a pedestrian had been hit on the highway. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from their injuries.
After the accident, Highway 2 was closed with detours on Flint Road for a few hours while authorities cleaned up the scene of the accident.
The driver of the car that hit the pedestrian is currently cooperating with Washington State Patrol and Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit while they investigate the crash. If anyone has any information about the accident, please contact crime check at 509-456-2233.
