Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Bypass Highway

Richland, WA (11/03/2019) – Sunday morning, around 6:20 am, a Pasco man attempted to cross the Richland bypass Highway and a car struck him. The crash occurred north of Van Giesen.

Police identified the victim as Leo Gerhard, 28. Mr. Gerhard walked across the eastbound lanes of the Bypass Highway when a Ford Fusion struck and killed him. He died of his injuries before they could transport him to a hospital.

The driver of the Ford, Luke Bultena, received no injuries in the collision. Eastbound lanes of traffic closed so investigators could work the scene. There have been no announced penalties for the driver.
